Monochromator of the Beamline for Advanced diChroism at the Elettra synchrotron light source
Between the entrance and the exit slit there is the monochromator component: it consists of a plane mirror and three spherical grating. With respect to the incoming beam the grating rotation axis is displaced upwards by 20 mm in the direction perpendicular to the beam. This configuration has been chosen in order to keep the slit positions and the beam direction fixed. Wavelength tuning is performed by changing the deflection angle at the grating. The plane mirror is always adjusted in such
a way that the monochromatised beam continues in the same direction as the incident beam but displaced by about 20 mm vertically upwards. The axes for mirror and grating rotation are horizontally oriented and motorised as well as gratings changing mechanism.
