Materials Science Beamline
The Materials Science Beamline (MSB) has been attached to the bending magnet exit 6.1 of the Elettra storage ring. The tuning range is from 35 to 950 eV with a theoretical spectral resolving power E/DE better than 4,000 in the whole tuning range. The design is based on a standard plane grating instrument (SX-700) as this permits wide scanning of the energy. More...
Spherical Grating Monochromator
This SGM is equipped with three spherical gratings in order to cover the energy range from 200 to 1400 eV. The gratings in the grating holder is mounted in a slide which enables transversal movement of the gratings and thus a choice of a particular grating. More...
Monochromator of the Beamline
Between the entrance and the exit slit there is the monochromator component: it consists of a plane mirror and three spherical grating. With respect to the incoming beam the grating rotation axis is displaced upwards by 20 mm in the direction perpendicular to the beam. This configuration has been chosen in order to keep the slit positions and the beam direction fixed. Wavelength tuning is performed by changing the deflection angle at the grating. More...
